This past week my Life Group did our very first service project. We made a pot of spaghetti and fed some hungry college students in the dorms. It was simple, but it was also great!
I love my life group and the time we have together on a weekly basis, but there is something so incredible about actually getting out of my living room and serving someone. It is awesome to see my girls get so pumped about serving, becoming excited about taking the things they have been filled with at Chi Alpha, in life group, or even in their personal life, and sharing that overflow of love with others.
I see their attitudes, as well as my own, becoming more and more like that which Jesus challenged us to have when he said “your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served but to serve and give my life”.
After any service project I seem always to feel guilty for making it just a monthly event with my life group rather than a daily lifestyle. What if every day I served the people around me: the lost, the saved, my family, friends, strangers, and, well, everyone. Everyone needs to be shown Christ’s love. My goal every day this week: find a person or situation in which I can serve, big or small. Will you join me in this challenge?
This is so awesome kaylee, you’ve put into words, what I’ve been thinking of for a few weeks, its funny as I work at fast food, and I serve people, but every day I ask God to guide my words, my actions, to show love to everyone I work with and the people I meet every day. Awesome post.
